Terra Madre 2024
Terra Madre Salone del Gusto was held in Parco Dora in the Italian city of Turin from September 26th - 30th 2024. Terra Madre is a global event organised by Slow Food, bringing together farmers, chefs, educators, and activists from around the world to promote sustainable food systems and local food cultures. It serves as a platform for sharing ideas, fostering connections and advocating for a more sustainable and equitable food future.
Th event is a gathering of Indigenous peoples and food cultures from across the world, creating a space for sharing knowledge, celebrating traditions, and advocating for sustainable food systems.
We were extremely proud to have our wonderful educator and founding teacher of the Prepare Produce Provide Djinda Ngardak program, Dee Hedland alongside her husband, and our very talented PPP Youth Ambassador, Molly West with her mum Mel, travel to Turin to represent Prepare Produce Provide on this global platform, to share the rich culinary heritage of Australia with the world and discover how food unites us all.
It was an incredible opportunity for our team to connect, learn, and be inspired by the richness of other Indigenous food practices and experience the power of community. Connecting with other Indigenous peoples and food cultures, celebrating and experiencing the richness of Indigenous knowledge and food practices was a valuable, special, and unique opportunity. The team was also able to take in the sights and have lots of fun along the way!!
A special shoutout to Molly who worked at the Australia stand sharing some amazing native teas.
